Swidnica Griffin

Mural I did in occasion of Punkt Zero Festival in Swidnica, Poland. The piece is inspired by Swidnica’s most ancient legend. According to the legend a huge four legged Griffin raised from a crack in the fields and start terrorizing the people of the old village. His eyes were poisonous and could kill with a simple blink. The king decided to arm one of the thief of his prison with a mirrored shield to fight the beast with his own reflection. Apparently the German took this legend and shifted the Griffin with a Basilisc. The profile of the thief is taken from the muscled man in the “Elevation of the Cross” by Rubens, as it reminded Slovenian facial feature.
