BILDUNGSROMAN

I remember clearly the day I passed by Gerardo del Hierro screen and I saw some shot of Bildungsroman. I went behind him and (in a very frightful way indeed) I said: “What the fuck are you doing?”. I was astonished, cause all the things I was seeing seem to be escaped from my dreams. The church, the sculpture, the alchemic icons, the fight, the strenght, the darkness. I asked more about it and he explained me that it was a metaphor of life: the path of a man from pure stone to builded up statue, fighting for what he love against a very critical catholic oppression, against morality, madness, society. I couldn’t say anything else but: ” I will do the poster of this video, motherfucker.”  So That was my turn, my turn to tell another story above this one. After lot of research, I undestood that I needed a geometric structure that could entrap the main characters and explain this fight, so checking different items from Cabala symbols and numerology, I had it: why shoud I choose a single number if I could use a whole structure that include all numbers and meaning? That would have been the “Tree of Life” enchaining two men fighting each other.  But Gerardo agreed thatr just two guys wrestling would have been too poor. So we added a female figure, and it changed everything: the suddently became Adam and Eve. But still, something was missing, a third figure. I looked at him and I said: “No Tree of Life comes without a Snake, right? “. And once I started drawing it, I saw another evolution: “What if Adam would have say “NO” to temptation?”  So question after question, meaning after meaning, the poster was builded up, and after all this blabbering about nonsense christian madness, you can enjoy the video here, and the poster above.
